Job Description First Design Hire

Chariot is hiring our first Designer to reimagine how nonprofit financial tools should look and feel. Design is core to our mission: we’re building elegant products that make giving seamless for donors and operational workflows effortless for nonprofits. You’ll partner closely with engineering, product, and nonprofit leaders to craft intuitive tools that unlock revenue and remove friction - while elevating the standard of design across the sector.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who cares deeply about simplicity, usability, and visual polish - and wants to use their skills to make a tangible impact in the world. At Chariot, you’ll have the rare opportunity to work on zero-to-one products, contribute to a thoughtful and fast-moving team, and shape the future of how philanthropy happens online.

• Raise the design bar company-wide by bringing a keen eye for craft and a high standard of aesthetic and usability
• Own the end-to-end design process—from discovery and research to prototyping, visual design, and delivery
• Create and maintain a modern, scalable design system that reflects Chariot’s brand and values
• Design intuitive, elegant user experiences that drive adoption and simplify complex financial workflows.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and product managers to ship high-quality, consistent features quickly.
• Work directly with nonprofit partners to validate ideas, uncover user needs, and continuously improve our products </aside>

About You

• 3+ years of product design experience, ideally in a fast-paced, product-led environment.
• Proven ability to craft polished, user-centric designs across both desktop and mobile platforms.
• Strong foundation in layout, typography, color, and interaction design.
• Experience building and maintaining design systems in Figma.
• Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally and clearly articulating design decisions.
• Highly organized and self-directed—you can manage your own workflow and thrive in ambiguity.
• Skilled at conducting user research and translating insights into smart product decisions.
• 👾 Bonus Experience coding UI components (HTML, CSS, React or similar) for prototyping or implementation.
